Hand Numbness & Sciatica Sufferer

I started being treated by Dr. Vahl, after injuring my back. I had deep, burning pain in my right calf and my MD deemed that it was either a pulled muscle or a damaged lumbar disc. X-rays were inconclusive, but the fact that the pain only revealed itself by assuming certain stances or positions, and massage and anti-inflammatory medications did not help, strongly indicated a damaged disk.
After a detailed physical examination, Dr. Vahl explained that we would be using a number of methods to treat the affected area, including laser treatment, electrical stimulation, decompression techniques, and traditional chiropractic procedures. The treatment was not particularly uncomfortable, and after a few weeks I noticed significant reduction of discomfort, as well as increased range of motion in areas that were not affected by the lumbar disc damage.
By Mid-June we were able to reduce the treatment schedule from bi-weekly, then weekly to once per month. Many days, I feel no discomfort in my leg whatsoever, and am able to perform physical tasks as I was before the damage occurred. It is my sincere belief that Dr. James Vahl was able to reduce the inflammation in my disc to the point that it is not the problem it once was, and may very well have prevented me from needing surgical procedures to reduce the pressure on my sciatic nerve.
I will continue to see Dr. Vahl for treatment of this area on a monthly basis as preventative medicine, as I have no desire for the burning pain in my calf to re-appear.
